Without a doubt, my favorite martini to order when we are out is a cosmopolitan. My mom and I started drinking these on the regular after we found Sex and the City and haven’t stopped since. So this weekend, when my husband and I found ourselves in a celebratory mood, I wanted a Cosmo. And a Cosmo, or two, I had.
And what exactly were we celebrating? I got a new job. One that pays more, offers more benefits, and is going to be a quite the adjustment at first but a welcomed change. We continued the celebration with tapas and drinks at a new restaurant, Toro Lounge, then pool and beer at a tavern. It was a blast.
The new job is in a CPA firm and it’s tax season. (Ironic that I was complaining about taxes last week?) I’m going to be working 50 hours a week through April – quite the change from the 30 hours a week I’m doing now. As a result, I’ll probably be cooking less. Husband will be picking up a couple cooking shifts and I will probably rely on a lot of stand-by recipes already in my repertoire. So I probably won’t be around as much. But don’t worry. I’ll still be eating and drinking and being merry, as long as there is vodka in the house.
The Classic Cosmopolitan
Makes 2 large martini’s
4 oz vodka
2 oz triple sec
1 oz lime juice
6 oz cranberry juice
lime for garnish
Fill a martini shaker full of ice. Add ingredients. Shake well. Strain into martini glasses. Garnish with lime wedges.

Congratulations on the new job! Is there ever a wrong time for a Cosmo? 🙂
That looks delicious! I used to LOVE Cosmos. I’ve never tried to make my own though.
Congrats on the new job. Maybe when things calm down a bit, we can meet up for happy hour some time?
Heck yes! Anytime! I’m off at 5. The office is in West Bremerton. Just let me know when and where!
Congrats on the new job, it sounds great!
Cosmos are my go to drink as well, especially since most places manage to make them pretty well. It’s always a bummer when I get one that’s too sweet.
Miss sharing a cosmo or 2 or 3 with you! ❤
Congrats on the new job Leah!! I hope this one is just the one you’ve been hoping for 🙂
