Monstrous Morning

Lucky boy doesn’t have to work today but I do so he got up and made me breakfast while I showered!

He made a Green Monster which I have been talking about wanting lately. I think he put vanilla soy milk, spinach, frozen strawberries and cocoa powder? He said he didn’t like the taste of it and just stopped dinking with it. I asked him if he put a banana in it and he said no so I am assuming that was the key missing ingredient.


Also, we had some homemade agave + banana wheat bread with some Montana Chokeberry jam.

I am exhausted right now. I could not get out of bed for the life of me. I’m going to be dragging ass.

BUT the exciting thing today is that Jodus is going to take me out to lunch today! And we are going to my favorite: Sushi Yama!

AND we are going to go look at wedding bands for him. Mine’s going to be ridiculously easy so we aren’t worried about it at all. I’m just getting a plain old platinum band that matches the band on my engagement ring!

Good morning! It is soooo much cooler today! I’m lovin’ it! The BF has the day off today so I have a shopping list for him and he made me breakfast this morning! Let’s see what he whipped up.

It was delicious! I love the cocoa with berries! I think this might be the first GM I’ve had that didn’t have a banana in it? We are all out but replenishing our supply today.

Also, half a cheesy bagel with some cream cheese.

Pink Skies on the Horizon

Good morning! It was another hot night here but I think I managed to get slightly better sleep! After we watched an episode of The Wire, we ended up sitting out on the deck reading for a bit. It was so much cooler and we had pretty pink skies. Pink skies greeted us this morning as well! So nice!


I made a Green Monster with spinach, banana, strawberries, and vanilla soymilk.

Monday Mornings = Ugh

Last night, I did end up having a small bowl of fruit salad and topped it with some carob chips and unsweetened shredded coconut.

Last night was muggy and yuck. No AC, no fan, a very hot boy. I am feeling very lethargic this morning as I head out to work.

In hopes of fueling me, I had a Green Monster with the usual spinach, banana, vanilla whey, and frozen strawberries.

For some reason, breakfast didn’t sit too well with me. As of right now, I’ve had only half my green monster. 😦 No yoga this morning either because of the one car situation and having to drop off the boy. He did make me an iced coffee while I was in the shower… without me even asking! 🙂

Seemingly Rushed Saturday

Our Saturday got off to an extremely unproductive start by sleeping in until 10am! So unlike us! We felt rushed for the rest of the day because of it.

We got into our workout clothes and went downstairs for breakfast.

A Green Monster was in order.

Then we headed to the Farmer’s Market really quickly to pick up a few things.

I think it looks like a swan or something. But not nearly as impressive as Andrea and Erin’s zucchini! hehe…

Then we were off to the gym for a quickie. I did 30 minutes on the crazy elliptical thingy and some push-ups and lunges.

We darted home and showered and pounded out lunch.

We grilled corn on the cob.

Now this was my first time grilling corn so we did a little research yesterday and decided to do this: remove the silk, soak the corn in water (while we showered), peel back the husk, coat in olive oil, minced onion and garlic, salt and pepper, re-husk and tie the ends with a husk, throw on the grill.

We also grilled up Morningstar Spicy Black Bean Burgers.

I quickly threw together some guacamole with some avocado and tomato that had to get used today.

And we baked some sweet potato fries. We topped the burgers with onion slices and a tomato slice and the guacamole, on a whole wheat bun.

We bolted out the door after scarfing this down. We had to go to the city. I did some volunteer work with Mary, and R.D. and Jodus went to do some mysterious shopping. 😉

Afterwards, we went driving. I got the hair-brained idea to hit up the Dollar Store after seeing Angela’s cute purchases recently. But we didn’t know where one was. We ended up in Mukilteo and the boy remembered there was an Alehouse he’s been wanting to try so we decide to check it out. We drove around for maybe 10-15 minutes and couldn’t find parking so we gave up and decided to head home.

By this time, I was starving. I tapped into my car stash:

There sure wasn’t many in the bag. 😦 The boy had a few and I ate the rest. It did hold me over for dinner though.

We swung into Big Lots on the way home. Fail. I hate that store. This was my second time going in. Never again.

Then we finally got home and got crack-a-lacking on dinner grub.

I threw together a quick pasta dish.

  • 2 cooked chicken breasts
  • egg noodles
  • steamed broccoli
  • cherry tomatoes
  • pesto
  • olive oil
  • minced garlic
  • parmesan 

Basically just mix it all together!

I made some garlic bread… er… garlic hotdog buns in the oven really quick and we cracked a bottle of the good stuff.

Brown Breakfast

No yoga this morning; I had to drop off the boy at his vanpool because we only have the one car today. And boy does this only having one car thing really make me want to sell my Mazda so we don’t have a car payment plus insurance to pay on a vehicle that just sits parked all day long! We’ll see what happens.

I knew I wanted to make a Green Monster for breakfast this morning… but it turned into a Brown Monster instead!

Is it really Friday?


Still not feeling 100% this morning, I opted for another Green Monster this morning.


Today was the classic: banana, spinach, unsweetened almond milk. I really think I like the simpler versions the best! But there are a ton of different recipes cropping up at the Green Monster Movement !

I made some scrambled cheesey eggs to go with.


Morning Snack

This morning I tried a new yogurt I bought earlier this week at Whole Foods. It was a greek yogurt and WAY cheaper than the others but I knew I didn’t want the full fat and they only had the one flavored kind, luckily I like fig.


With some blueberries on top… This yogurt was only okay. I’d rather have the Greek Gods Fig Yogurt instead.

I want to take this opportunity to discuss some of the health benefits of yogurt. One of the reasons I started this blog was to share my knowledge and have a good excuse to research more so I am going to start to include more tidbits about what we are eating/avoiding and why!


  • Full of probiotics that help repair your gut lining and is great for overall GI health.
  • Proven to decrease potential for yeast infections/Candida
  • Good source of calcium, and often, yogurts and milks will have Vit D to aid in absorption of calcium to help prevent osteoporosis.
  • A good source of protein, especially in Greek Yogurts like Fage or Oikos.
  • The healthy bacteria in yogurt can promote a healthy immune system.


I didn’t pack a lunch today because we *gasp* had no leftovers in the fridge and I didn’t feel like a sandwich, especially because we have burgers planned for dinner. So I decided I would walk to Whole Foods at lunch and hit the salad bar (craving my greens). This meant I was eating a little later than usual so I had a sample size larabar to hold me over.


After reading Mrs. Myers review of the Peanut Butter Cookie Larabar this morning, I was a bit wary. But turns out, I’m not as picky about PB Cookies. 😉 I really liked this! Maybe my fav larabar! It isn’t as sweet as the others. Yum! I still hate that those 2 bites are 130 cals.

I walked the .9 miles to Whole Foods in the beating sun. I picked up a couple random things and lunch. The WF’s salad bar never fails me. Pure heaven! I get waaay too much, and always eat it all. Almost 2 lbs of goodies today!


Stuff hiding under the kale:

  • Raw Kale Salad
  • Orzo Salad (I don’t know why! I am not a fan of orzo but looked so good!)
  • Artichoke Hearts
  • Kidney beans, black beans, garbanzo beans
  • edamame
  • peas and corn
  • roasted garlic (best part of the salad!!)
  • raw veggie salad
  • pine nuts
  • shredded beets and carrots (not enough to make me pee pink)
  • spring mix
  • sesame snap peas
  • green onion, red onion
  • tofu
  • radishes

The best thing about getting all this STUFF on a salad, there is no need for a dressing! Some of the salads have oil on them but other than that, nothing!! Yum! I nursed this salad for a good hour plus, so no need for an afternoon snackypoo.

I also got a VitaCoCo. My first time having coconut water with the brand, and flavored!


I think I might prefer plain better. I’m a simple gal with simple needs. (HA!)
