Spiced Turkey Burgers

This was our second attempt at homemade turkey burgers and they turned out so much better than the first batch! I didn’t even bother sharing the first batch with you because they were a bit of a hot mess – crumbly and stuck to the grill.

But not these.

The flavor was reminiscent of Morningstar Spicy Black Bean Burgers – one of my favorite Costco purchases that I can no longer eat due to wheat in them. They were juicy and flavorful, and there is nothing more you can ask for in a burger.

Spiced Turkey Burgers

Modified from this recipe.

1 egg
1-1/4 cloves garlic, minced
2 tablespoons and 2 teaspoons soy sauce
2 tablespoons and 2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
1-1/4 teaspoons ground cumin
3/4 teaspoon ground mustard seed
3/4 teaspoon paprika
1/4 tsp red pepper flakes
1/4 teaspoon chili powder
2 tablespoons and 2 teaspoons dry bread crumbs (gluten free)
1 pound ground turkey

Mix the egg and garlic in a large mixing bowl until the egg is well blended. Add the soy sauce, Worcestershire sauce, cumin, mustard, paprika, chili powder, salt, bread crumbs, and turkey; mix well and form into 4 patties.

Preheat an outdoor grill for medium-high heat, and lightly oil the grate.

Cook the turkey burgers on the preheated grill until no longer pink in the center and the juices run clear, about 4 minutes per side. An instant-read thermometer inserted into the center should read at least 165 degrees F (74 degrees C). Serve on the toasted hamburger buns.

  1. We LOVE turkey burgers. They are a staple in our house. Michael makes them with chopped jalapenos and cheese. We’ve done different variations..adding bacon, doing ones with feta and onions. Your recipe sounds delish.
