Today, just now, I had my first wedding cry.
Right after we got engaged, I had an engagement cry.
But today. Today, it was a wedding cry. Two, actually.
And I’m not counting the tears of desperation and frustration because no one wants to remember those ones.
Today, I’m talking about tears of joy, happiness, love.
The spark was my mother.
She called me the other day and left a voicemail saying that she over-nighted me a package.
After I got over the initial irritation that it required signature during a weekday morning that wasn’t going to happen, I started thinking about what it might be. I boiled it down to two things.
1) My mom’s pearls to try on with my dress for my fitting on Wednesday. Er, tomorrow.
2) Meat. (It really isn’t a bad thought. If you knew my family, you’d get it.)
I was half right.

My mother has had this same contact paper since the early 90’s, I’m sure of it.
Indeed, wedding jewelry it is, but not her pearls. My jaw dropped when I saw she made them herself.
And she wouldn’t be my mother without a plug to her blog. 😉
(I kid.)
To my delight, a full set of the most perfect jewelry ever was before my eyes.
I had fallen in love with a necklace at my bridal shop a month or two ago. But I couldn’t talk myself or allow my mother to buy it for $200. No way. But I did my best to describe it to her and we scoured eBay and etsy for days. No luck so I settled on a $9 necklace from Forever 21 to fit the bill for the time being.
But this. This is perfect.
Dainty earrings, not too big to take away from my darling fascinator or smiling face.
A delicate bracelet to adorn on my (tan) wrist.
A perfect drop necklace – large enough to make a statement, small enough to not overpower the bride (or the dress).
The pink is the perfect shade – it matches part of my dress perfectly.
A sort of vintage feel with the pearls, the crystals, the antiqued separators.
I couldn’t have designed anything more perfect myself.
I love you, Mom. Thank you so very much. I will always cherish these.
